Qualifications
Education and Certification:
- An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Environmental Science, Climate Policy, International Relations, Economics, Law, Engineering, or a related field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Experience:
- A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in climate change, sustainable development, environmental policy, or a related area is required.
- Proven experience in research, analysis, and report writing on complex technical subjects.
- Demonstrated experience working in an international context, preferably with exposure to multilateral processes or international organizations.
- Specific expertise in one or more key areas of the UNFCCC process, such as Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), climate finance, technology transfer, adaptation, or transparency frameworks, is highly desirable.
- Excellent command of English is mandatory, as it is the working language of the UNFCCC. Knowledge of another UN official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) is a distinct advantage.
