Tasks and Key Responsibilities

The Education Programme Intern will be engaged in substantive research and analysis work, including:

  • Policy Research: Conduct comprehensive literature reviews on education financing and free education policies across Africa to inform UNICEF’s advocacy and programming efforts.
  • Report Development: Review and support the finalization of Namibia’s Draft Free Education Report, ensuring accuracy and alignment with national education strategies.
  • Knowledge Products: Prepare a concise policy brief on free education for presentation to Parliament, synthesizing complex research findings into accessible recommendations.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Develop PowerPoint presentations summarizing key research findings for the Ministry of Education and other government partners.
  • Data Analysis: Collaborate with UNICEF’s Education and Planning, Monitoring & Evaluation (PME) teams to support data collection and analysis related to education financing.
  • Documentation: Contribute to internal reporting and documentation processes, ensuring all work adheres to UNICEF’s values of integrity, respect, and accountability.

Qualifications

Education and Certification

  • Recent completion of a university degree in Economics, Education, Public Policy, Statistics, Finance, or a closely related field is required.
  • Strong academic performance must be demonstrated through recent university transcripts or equivalent documentation.

Experience

  • Demonstrated understanding of Namibia’s education system and policy landscape is essential.
  • Experience in education budget analysis, policy research, or related quantitative/qualitative research methods is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and statistical analysis tools is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and professional writing skills are necessary.
  • Candidates must be between 18-35 years old and fluent in English; knowledge of local Namibian languages is advantageous.
