Background & Job Description

We are sharing a strategic fundraising opportunity with ClimateWorks Foundation, a global nonprofit organization dedicated to ending the climate crisis by amplifying the power of philanthropy. Since its founding in 2008, ClimateWorks has awarded over $2 billion in grants to more than 850 organizations worldwide, focusing on scaling climate solutions and guiding philanthropic investments.

The Stewardship & Funder Relations Manager position sits within the Donor Communications team in the Marketing & Communications department. This role serves as a crucial link between the foundation’s programmatic work and its philanthropic partners, ensuring that funders remain engaged, informed, and inspired by the impact of their investments.

This is a full-time, remote position based in the United States, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere in the country. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Philanthropic Partnerships team to design and implement tailored stewardship strategies that strengthen relationships with high-impact donors and institutions, ultimately supporting ClimateWorks’ mission to address the climate crisis.


Tasks and Key Responsibilities

  • Funder Engagement Strategy: Design and implement customized stewardship plans aligned with individual funder interests and goals, creating tailored communications, reports, and exclusive engagement opportunities.
  • Impact Storytelling: Develop and maintain a comprehensive library of impact stories, visuals, and donor-ready materials that effectively communicate ClimateWorks’ achievements and real-world outcomes.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with philanthropy managers to align stewardship activities with broader funder relationship strategies and ensure consistent, coordinated engagement.
  • Stewardship Plan Execution: Manage the timely delivery of all stewardship activities while tracking and analyzing funder engagement metrics to continuously refine and improve strategies.
  • Donor Reporting: Create customized impact reports that clearly showcase funder contributions and synthesize complex program data into compelling, accessible updates.
  • Event Coordination: Assist in planning and executing donor events, briefings, and site visits that strengthen connections to ClimateWorks’ mission, including preparing tailored briefing materials.
  • Feedback Analysis: Gather and analyze donor feedback to enhance stewardship practices and stay current with trends in philanthropic engagement.

Qualifications

Education and Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Nonprofit Management, Marketing, or a related field is required.
  • Advanced degrees or professional certifications in fundraising, philanthropy, or related areas are advantageous.

Experience

  • Minimum of five years of professional experience in donor relations, stewardship, major gifts fundraising, or a closely related field.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing high-touch relationships with institutional funders, major donors, or other key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience crafting compelling donor-facing messaging and impact storytelling materials.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience assessing donor engagement data to inform strategy development.
  • Background in climate, environmental, nonprofit, or philanthropic sectors is highly desirable.

Additional Information

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary Range: $105,000 – $115,000 annually, adjusted based on geographic location (with higher ranges for Bay Area and New York City)
  • Retirement: Exceptional retirement plan with 9% automatic employer contribution plus 100% match of employee contributions up to 6%
