Tasks
The International TB/HIV Consultant is typically expected to perform the following tasks:
Technical & Programme Support
- Provide technical advice on TB and HIV prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and care
- Support integration of TB and HIV services within national health systems
- Review and strengthen national TB/HIV strategies, guidelines, and operational plans
Policy & Strategic Guidance
- Support alignment of national policies with WHO norms and standards
- Contribute to development or revision of policies, guidelines, and protocols
- Advise on implementation of the End TB Strategy and HIV response frameworks
Monitoring, Evaluation & Data Use
- Support analysis of TB/HIV surveillance and programme data
- Strengthen monitoring and reporting systems
- Support evidence-based decision-making using epidemiological data
Capacity Building & Coordination
- Support training and mentoring of national programme staff
- Coordinate with government counterparts, donors, and implementing partners
- Participate in technical meetings, reviews, and joint missions
Reporting
- Prepare technical reports, mission summaries, and recommendations
- Contribute to donor and internal WHO reporting requirements
Qualifications
Education and Certification
Candidates for this consultancy typically possess:
- An advanced university degree (Master’s or PhD) in:
- Public Health
- Medicine
- Epidemiology
- Infectious Diseases
- Health Sciences or a related field
Specialized training in TB, HIV, or communicable disease control is highly desirable.
Experience
